&Joy Jewelry Boutique
During recession in 2004 in Hong Kong, the client tried to downsize his jewelry boutique from a regular street front store to a 100 square feet building elevator lobby. The lobby has a electrical and mechanical room at the end, short-notice maintenance access was required at all times by law.
To solve the problem, I used modular furniture that were magnetically attached to each other and to the wall. If the fire truck came, all cabinets could be removed and shipped to the roof through the elevators within 15 minutes. I also employed curve and mirrors to disguise the overly tight space.
Eventually, we got the permit, and the project was nominated "Best Asian Design" in 2005.
Project is under Head Architecture, I was in charge of design and construction management.
